Written by: My Happy Me on February 23, 2010. Taking care of your skin might be one of the most rewarding personal care routines. Most of the procedures can be done at home using natural ingredients that can be found in your kitchen cupboard or your fridge. Along with amazing visible results, you will give yourself some extra minutes of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Three-minute Eye Rejuvenation Rick-Me-Up
For a quick eye refresher after a sleepless night or a long work-day try using a cucumber eye mask to brighten your eyes and give the skin around your eyes some extra moisture. Put cool, thinly-sliced cucumber rings on your eyes for a minimum of 3 minutes. Finish this procedure with a warm cloth against your eyes and a rich moisturizer for sensitive skin around your eyes.
Pore Cleansing
To give your skin a good boost of energy and to get rid of the old skin sells, it is recommended to exfoliate your skin at least once a week with a gentle exfoliate. If you want your exfoliation session to be even more effective and more relaxing, try steaming your face just before, for one to three minutes. Make sure that your steam bath is not too hot, and that you use an extra gentle scrub after the steaming. You can add a drop of lavender essential oil in to the steam water for a more relaxing effect.
The best part is that you don’t have to buy an expensive face steamer. You can just pour hot water in a plate, put a towel over your head and your steamer is ready!
Lemon Facial Wash
Another great way to cleanse and rejuvenate your facial skin is to wipe your face with a few drops of lemon juice diluted in warm water. Lemon works wonders for getting rid of dirt and to refresh your skin by penetrating deep into your pores.
Enjoy your facial skin care routine and you will see the difference in a couple of weeks.

It’s no secret that there are many factors that play a role in our ageing process. Genetics, exercise, nutrition, relaxation, proper skin care are just a few of them and while it is not in our power to change our genetics and stop the ageing process, we can slow down its effects through lifestyle choices. Here is one easy change you can make towards a healthier and more youthful-looking you. Just take this superfoods list to the supermarket next time you go grocery shopping and aim to include one different superfood for every day of your week. It’s that easy!

-
Berries. All bright coloured berries contain a massive amount of antioxidants. These antioxidants help to protect our body from oxidative damage that causes premature ageing plus all kinds of disease that come with free radical damage. It is worth to note that frozen berries contain about the same amount of vitamins as fresh berries, so no need to skip them out of season.
-
Broccoli and other cabbages provide a wide array of antioxidants, including vitamin C and beta-carotene. Broccoli is also rich in folate, which is necessary for proper formation of blood cells, and high in fiber which is so very important for the elimination of toxins.
-
Carrots are high in vitamins C and A plus a great source of fiber. Eating a couple of carrots a day can help lower blood cholesterol levels and protects from heart disease, stroke and various cancers.
-
Tomatoes are a rich source of lycopene, which’s shown to prevent mental dysfunctions associated with ageing process and to reduce the risk of prostate, pancreatic and cervical cancers.
-
Spinach tops the list of green leafy vegetables as a source of cancer-preventing antioxidants that is also high in folate. My personal favourite superfood!
-
Fish –particularly small and fatty types- is a great source of omega 3 essential fatty acids that may prevent cardiovascular disease, high blood cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, some skin diseases and arthritis. In addition, it makes your skin look younger by preventing wrinkles.
-
Citrus fruit. An excellent source of vitamin C, which participates in the formation of collagen essential for healthy, strong and firm skin. Vitamin C also helps strengthen body’s immune system.
-
Avocado is high in good monounsaturated fat that resists oxidation. It is rich in B vitamins (important for healthy metabolism) and high in antioxidant vitamins such as C and E.
-
Grapes, especially red and black varieties, contain record amount of antioxidants-up to 20! But these are found mostly in skin and seeds, so keep chewing! J
-
Green tea is a potent antioxidant. One or two cups a day can lower the risk of cancer.
-
Onion and garlic. They might give you bad breath, but onion and garlic help prevent cancer, thin blood, protect from clots as well as increase levels of good cholesterol. They also have anti-inflammatory effects. These are worth eating a few times a week, but make sure you don’t have to speak with too many people after that…well, that’s just inconsiderate JJ J

Written by: My Happy Me on January 13, 2010. Everybody wants flawless, glowing skin at all ages, but not everyone realizes that the earlier you start taking care of your skin the better. Your daily skin care routine is as important as brushing your teeth every day or taking a shower in the morning.
Baby Skin Care
It is critical to protect your baby’s skin from the sun at all costs. It is challenging to do so, when your child is younger than six month, because until then you cannot even apply the sun block, because some ingredients could be harmful to baby’s liver. The only choice you, as a parent, have is to cover your baby with breathable cotton clothes and keep them in the shade for most of the time.
It is also recommended to use organic baby products for your child.
Teenagers
We all know that sunrays are one of the most harmful outside factors for our skin, but we do not start paying attention to it until we actually notice some damage. During your teenage years you do not have to do much to maintain a healthy looking skin, unless you have some acne problems. At this time it is important to clean your skin from any make up or dirt that comes with air pollution (especially in the big cities), and to moisturize (especially during the cold winter months).
20s-30s
At this time in addition to all procedures mentioned above you want to make sure that you use gentle scrubs on a regular basis to get rid of the dead skin layers and to give your skin that extra ability to absorb all the nutrients from your moisturizer or a vitamin mask. It is a good idea to treat yourself to a spa visit once in a while for a professional facial treatment. It is a wonderful way for you to relax, and to pamper your skin with high quality facial products.
40s-60s
It is time to hit it hard with extra hydration by moisturising your skin religiously. Make sure you use a night cream and a day cream, as they do have different ingredients in them to provide maximum nourishment. Every evening, after cleaning and toning your skin before going to bed you should use a night cream, which is a richer version of your light day cream. Try to provide your skin as much makeup-less time as possible when you are at home, so your skin has the chance to breath and to unclog its pores.
No matter how old you are, it is always important to remember that the skin is your largest organ. It is vital to provide the well-deserved care with high quality skin care products and your best daily skin care routine.

Written by: My Happy Me on January 6, 2010. There are thousands of skin care product brands available today and sometimes it is hard to decide which one would be right for you. The mass media and TV advertising makes it even harder to choose, overwhelming us with the options.
When looking through a glossy women’s magazine, I cannot help but wonder, “Is it true that the more expensive a skin care product is, the better it is for your skin?” Thankfully it is not always the case. You do not have to go with famous brands in order to achieve best results. So, how do you really decide which product is right for you? How do you ensure that the price is on par with the quality?
Product Ingredients
First of all, always check the ingredients. For example, if you are looking for a facial moisturizer, you want to make sure that the first ingredient is water (aqua), and not something else that you cannot even pronounce. Also, you do not want any alcohol in your skin toner or a face wash. Alcohol will only dry out your skin and will make it more vulnerable to the weather changes like wind and cold.
Organic Skin Care Products
It becomes more and more important for most of us to give back to nature even when we take from it. Every time you use an organic product, you contribute to the eco-friendly way of living, knowing that your, for example, bath and body products were not tested on animals and were manufactured in an environmentally friendly facility using the “green” technology.
Natural Body Creams and Lotions
By choosing all-natural products you can always be certain that you give yourself only the best and that your skin gets the most benefits and the most nutritional value from your daily skin care routine.
It is easy to show your social responsibility by choosing your body care products wisely. When you go for the organic and natural products you are not only contributing to the community, you are also giving yourself the gift of quality and the best nourishment for your skin.
Dec 30
Written by: My Happy Me on December 30, 2009. It is a common dilemma for power women in the corporate world; to dress stylishly and chic, and to maintain a professional look at the same time. Some female presidents and company CEOs are afraid to take fashion risks, as they are concerned that their clothing style may come across as unprofessional and appearance-cantered. On the other hand, it is very important to look classy and smart, in order to radiate that powerful, confident vibe. So, how do you choose a corporate clothing style that is fashionable and professional at the same time?

When looking at women in high corporate positions, female politicians, or wives of politicians, so to speak, three distinct style rules come to my mind:
1) Classy and clean
Classy and clean office or work wear look can be easily achieved if you keep in mind the golden rule of “the less is more.” Make sure you do not over-accessorise. Simple clothing style is timeless, so if you decide to go for a pricey piece, and you know that you will wear it for a long time, then it will be a good investment for your wallet and a smart addition to your professional wardrobe. It is especially true if you are thinking about your next suit purchase, as they are generally on a higher price range.
2) Fit
It is all about the fit! Remember, you do not have to spend a lot of money to look good. If your clothes fit your shape right, it will look good. It is as simple as that. Experiment with different styles, lengths, colours, until you find the right piece. You will just know if it is right for you. You must feel comfortable in your workwear clothes, too.
3) Colour
This is a big one, too. You don’t want your clothes to overpower your skin tone, nor do you want it to wash you out. Do not be afraid to go for brighter shades if you have a darker skin tone. Earth colours are a great choice for lighter skin tones. Again, do not shy away from bright colours; just make sure that you do not overdo it. If you choose a multi-coloured top, choose a low tone, natural colour bottom.
Your personal work or office clothing style is more than just the way you look, it is the way other people see you. Make sure your professional wardrobe is simple, yet versatile and memorable. Have fun with it, and create your own, unique corporate clothing style, that will be comfortable for you and visually appealing to your clients.
